Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra has narrowed his list of police chief finalists to three but the acting chief is not one of them, authorities say.
Segarra said Thursday the trio will be publicly introduced and available for a community question-and-answer session Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hartford Public Library downtown.
The three finalists: are Reading, Pa., police chief William Heim; Frank Straub, director of Public Safety for the City of Indianapolis; and former Newark, N.J., chief Irving Bradley Jr., who also is former police director in Trenton, N.J.
Acting Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella is not on the finalist roster. Former Police Chief Daryl Roberts retired from the force last December.
Segarra said he intends to announce his final selection next week.
