Hartford named 59th best city in U.S.

A new ranking of the United States’ 100 largest cities places Hartford 59th. That makes it the third best city in New England.

Portland, Maine, in 29th place nationally, was New England’s top city. It was followed by Boston in 30th.

The 2016 Best Places to Live ranking by U.S. News & World Report was determined in part by a public survey of thousands of individuals across the U.S. to find out what makes a place desirable to live in. The methodology also factors in data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as well as U.S. News rankings of the Best High Schools and Best Hospitals.

The other New England cities ranked were: Worcester, Mass., 65th; Springfield, Mass., 74th; New Haven, 88th; and Providence, R.I., 92nd.
