Hartford Municipal Credit Union becomes ‘Cencap Federal’

The Hartford Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union will rename itself Cencap Federal Credit Union this January, the first name change in its 66-year history.

The new name and accompanying logo was developed to better position the credit union among a wider audience of potential members, which now includes anyone who lives, works, prays or learns in the Hartford area, HMEFCU said in a statement. The organization currently has 9,000 members.

The name “Cencap” reflects the credit union’s central location within Connecticut (CEN) and its roots in the state’s capital city (CAP).

In early January, Cencap will unveil its new logo and signage at its five branch locations in Hartford and East Hartford, as well as at its ATM locations, on its redesigned website and in all business communications. The credit union is also preparing to launch an enhanced mobile banking app.
