Mitchell is one of a select group of 57 dealer nominees from across the country who will be honored at the 96th annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Exposition in Orlando on Feb. 9.

Mitchell, 64, was chosen to represent the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association in the national competition — one of only 57 auto dealers from 17,000 nationwide — nominated for the 44th annual award. The award is sponsored by Time in association with Ally Financial, and in cooperation with NADA. A panel of faculty members from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan will select one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year.

Mitchell has been an active member in Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club since 1985, where he served as president and has received the club’s Paul Harris Award.

In addition, Mitchell has been president of the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce and has been on the board of directors for the Warner Theater in Torrington since 2004, raising $9 million to renovate the 1932 theater.
