Hartford launches data portal

In an effort to appear more transparent and find efficiencies through information sharing, Hartford has launched a public web portal containing government data.

The site currently contains 80 datasets, some of them updated nightly, according to Mayor Pedro E. Segarra’s office.

The sets include maps of planning applications for downtown projects, freedom of information requests, GIS data, property tax data, municipal grants and a trove of other information.

Mayor Pedro E. Segarra ordered the creation of the portal in March, the same month that the state launched its own data portal, Open Connecticut.

Some of the datasets on Hartford’s site click through to the state’s portal.
