City leaders on Thursday afternoon unveiled a new $150,000 small-business grant program in Hartford.
Mayor Luke Bronin and city leaders said at least 20 small businesses based in Hartford with 10 or fewer employees will be able to tap the new investment pool provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Small businesses will be able to apply for funding to invest in technology, purchase equipment, or to make repairs on their facilities, among other uses, Bronin said. Businesses will be granted up to $7,500 and priority will be given to firms located in main commercial areas.
“We encourage small businesses across our city to apply, and we’re proud to be able to partner with our small businesses to help them grow,” the mayor said.
City leaders announced the new program Thursday during the final days of Small Business Week at t-shirt and sweatshirt printer Living Word Imprints in Hartford’s North End.
Applications must be sent to the city by June 21.
