Hundreds of business owners flocked to Hartford’s Connecticut Convention Center Thursday morning to participate in the CT Business Expo.
“It’s always a great event to participate in, but this year seems a bit more vibrant” said Lowell F. Briggs, director of Creative Services at NBC Connecticut. This was their fifth year attending.
Businesses used a variety of tactics to gain attention and stand out among other exhibitors. Best Cleaners was showcasing a large version of its business van, attracting potential customers and inquirers.
“Last year we used a smaller van, and decided to upgrade this year,” said Brenda Carta, office manager at Best Cleaners. “Who knows what van we’ll introduce to the expo next year.”
The expo, which began at 9 a.m., is free to attendees and runs to 5 p.m. The event features guest speakers, exhibitors, and several learning sessions aimed at helping small companies grow their business.
The expo, which is run by the Hartford Business Journal, allows business owners and professionals to network, expand customer bases, speak to key decision makers, and learn about new products and services.
The morning keynote speaker is Mike Michalowicz, author of the business book, “The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur.” The afternoon keynote speaker is Daymond John, CEO of the clothing brand FUBU and start of ABC’s Shark Tank.
A networking event will be held after the expo from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
