Hartford Hospital has finished the third and final phase of a decade-long energy savings program, with the installation of a new cooling system for the 867-bed hospital.
Farmington-based Carrier Corp. said it installed three high-efficiency air chillers at the hospital.
In 1998, Carrier installed automatic controls and other technology throughout the hospital’s north campus that have saved the hospital $1.2 million annually, the company said.
In 2005, the company expanded the chiller plant, improved cooling tower air recirculation and lighting, for another $250,000 in annual savings, Carrier said.
