A new Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center has opened at 2520 Main St. in Glastonbury, the second of of as many as 15 urgent-care centers in the next 18 months to be operated jointly by Hartford HealthCare and GoHealth Urgent Care.
The first opened in Avon in May.
GoHealth manages close to 50 urgent-care centers in New York, the Portland, Ore., metropolitan area and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Visitors to the Glastonbury urgent care center are greeted by an electronic sign-in via mounted tablet asking if the patient is a walk-in or checked in online. The patient swipes a driver’s license and insurance card at a card-reader stationed at the reception desk and that’s it until he or she is summoned by medical staff.
Urgent care centers treat patients who need immediate care for conditions that are not life-threatening, such as colds, flu, fever, asthma, allergies, emphysema, minor skin lacerations, cuts, burns, urinary tract infections, sports injuries, sprains and strains.
