Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging opens at Windham Hospital

The Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging at Windham Hospital celebrated the official opening last week of new services at the Willimantic hospital.

The center provides assessments in person, by phone and in home to connect older adults in eastern Connecticut with the medical care and resources. The center also partners with Natchaug Hospital to offer mental health treatment in a discreet environment. Therapy and education topics include stress management, coping with the loss of loved ones, development of age-specific life skills, chronic illness management and medication education.

The center also includes The GoodLife Fitness, where members and exercise staff develop individualized fitness goals that may include improved muscular strength and stamina, better balance, reduction in the risk of falls and injuries, support of cardiovascular health, and building of self-esteem and self-satisfaction. The program can also support individuals who need pre- and post-rehabilitation.
