Hartford gets $2M in federal transit funding

Hartford received $2 million in federal transit dollars for pedestrian-safety and bus-stop improvements at the Sigourney Street station in midtown that will be a stop on the New Britain-Hartford busway, authorities say.

The Greater Hartford Transit District got the Federal Transit Administration funding for improvements that include sidewalks, lighting, stairs and additional amenities for transit passengers at the station, members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation said Tuesday.

In recent weeks, the city has gotten nearly $20 million in federal grants to improve transportation infrastructure, maintain public safety and improve the overall livability, Senators Joseph I. Lieberman and Richard Blumenthal and Congressman John B. Larson said.
