The city of Hartford has gotten a $100,000 state grant to fill or convert empty downtown storefronts.
Mayor Pedro E. Segarra Thursday announced the city’s newly created Marketing, Events and Cultural Affairs Department will oversee the grant for “iConnect” storefront projects in downtown Hartford.
The arts-based grant is awarded by the Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
The grant will be used to convert empty storefronts into creative destinations such as a remote broadcast studio, artist exhibition, and retail/pop-up experiences, Segarra said.
