Last week’s 16 cent increase in the price of gasoline at Greater Hartford station was followed by 4.5 cent increase over the past week, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Wednesday’s average price of $3.901 per gallon of regular unleaded marks a 25 cent increase in the price of gasoline over the past month, the majority of which has come in the last two weeks.
The Hartford prices are slightly below the state average of $3.918, giving Connecticut the fourth highest gasoline in the nation behind Hawaii, California, and New York. The national average is $3.62 per gallon.
The jump in prices largely has come on the rising price of oil, which was $97.51 per barrel on Wednesday, along with slowdown in refinery production.
