The new year brought higher gasoline prices to Greater Hartford.
The price per gallon of regular unleaded was on a steady decline in November in December with notable drops before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
However, prices ticked upward again immediately after the holidays. On Wednesday, the price per gallon of regular unleaded in Greater Hartford hit $3.535, up 4.8 cents per gallon in one week.
The increase marked the first time since before Christmas that the cost per gallon rose above $3.50.
The upward trend in Greater Hartford was mirrored by similar increases in the New London and New Haven metropolitan areas.
