Gasoline prices at Greater Hartford gasoline station have increased nearly 16 cents in the past week, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Prices at stations in the Hartford area were $3.856 per gallon of regular unleaded on Wednesday, up from $3.70 one week ago.
The Connecticut statewide average was $3.898 per gallon on Wednesday, the fourth highest in the nation behind Hawaii, California, and New York.
The nearly 16-cent increase represents the largest price jump of 2013, and gasoline prices are up 11 cents from the same day last year.
The large increase is largely due to the rising cost of a barrel of oil, which was trading at $96.74 on Wednesday, coupled with the slowdown in refinery production.
