Greater Hartford gasoline prices rose this week for the first time since April, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The price per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline hit $3.633 on Wednesday, up from $3.594 from a week ago. Prices remain down 10 cents from a month ago and 30 cents from a year ago.
Gasoline prices starting rising in January before topping off above $4.10 per gallon of regular unleaded in April. Prices declined steadily since – bottoming out at below $3.60 last week – before they started climbing in July.
Prices fell earlier this year because the cost of a barrel of oil decreased due to the struggling worldwide economy. This week’s increase in Greater Hartford came as the price of a barrel of oil increase for two consecutive weeks, nearing $85 per barrel on Wednesday.
