Hartford’s Union Station is the site for Connecticut and Massachusetts congressional delegations that are promoting Friday high-speed rail in the Northeast to the new Republican congressman whose subcommittee oversees rail matters, The Associated Press reports.
Connecticut Rep. John Larson, co-chairman of the Northeast Rail Caucus, and members of the state and Massachusetts delegations are hosting a series of meetings Friday with Republican Rep. Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania, chairman of the subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.
The agenda includes presentations from Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Amtrak, and state transportation officials from Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont.
Last year, Connecticut learned it will receive nearly $121 million in federal funds for the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail line.
