In time for the holidays, Hartford’s parking agency has lifted on-street parking restrictions and implemented free parking to encourage visitors to various downtown events and attractions in and around Bushnell Park.
The Hartford Parking Authority announced it will modify its metered parking rules and posted on-street parking restrictions, starting the Friday after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve.
Parking agency CEO Eric Boone said the moves will allow city residents and visitors to enjoy the annual iQuilt presents Winterfest Hartford celebration and other holiday events.
The specific downtown street locations are: Elm Street from Trinity Street to Hudson Street; and Trinity Street from Elm Street to Jewell Street
At those designated locations, patrons may park for free during Winterfest Hartford opening day, Friday, Nov. 28, beginning at noon.
Patrons also may park for free on weekdays from 3:00 pm to 6:00pm beginning Monday, December 1, 2014 through Friday January 30, 2015.
No-parking from 3:30 to 6 p.m. restrictions on Trinity Street will be lifted for the duration of Winterfest Harford from Nov. 28 through Sat., Jan. 31, 2015. (Restrictions remain in effect on Elm Street)
Parking along Jewel Street will remain closed due to TIGER project construction.
Additional free off street parking is available after 5 p.m. at the state surface parking lots located on West Street and along Capital Avenue, giving visitors easy access to the ice rink.
Additional paid off street parking is available at the ProPark surface lots located near Pulaski Circle.
