Hartford culinary school closing

Six months after closing a Suffield campus and consolidating students with the Hartford campus, Lincoln Educational Services (LES) has closed its Connecticut Culinary Institute.

Lincoln Technical Institute, a division of LES, states on its website that its Hartford campus is no longer enrolling students, but invites prospective students to enroll at its sister campuses in Shelton and New Britain.

LES of West Orange, N.J., bought the Connecticut Culinary Institute in 2010, according to a story first reported by WFSB Eyewitness News 3.

LES owns about eight schools in Connecticut and dozens across the country including Lincoln Technical in New Britain and the Lincoln College of New England in Southington.

In August, the Lincoln Culinary Institute announced it would close its Suffield campus and consolidate about 170 extra students in Hartford.

Scott M. Shaw, CEO and president of Lincoln Tech, could not be reached for comment. The Hartford campus president also was unavailable.
