Welcome To The HBJ’s Business Profiles
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
Abraham Lincoln penned those words over 150 years ago, and yet they still remain true today.
We see this saying prove true daily in our business community. This year more than ever, companies looked at their products or services and chose new directions. Some companies moved; some expanded; some acquired other companies. In short, business people hustled.
The latest business news stories of the day — like those delivered via e-mail by HBJ Today or weekly in print by the Hartford Business Journal — will tell you a lot about Central Connecticut and the direction in which its business communities are going. But there’s often another untold story, one that more fully develops what makes these companies special. Often its about people and their personal accounts of the companies hustling.
In this second edition of Business Profiles, we’re providing a forum for those companies who want an alternative way to tell their own stories in their own words, unfiltered by editors and news constraints. Each company has taken the opportunity to write their own stories and to share with you, our readers, their history, their future, and their focus. They have photographed their teams, their products, their offices, and their events.
In reading these stories, we hope you’ll also discover new facts about the businesses that you already know.
And we hope that you will find providers of goods and services that can help you or your business prosper and grow. Perhaps it’s a technology company that works hard and plays hard; a medical supply company who has five distribution centers across the country; a bus line expanding into our region; or a printing services company that focuses on being first. These are just a few of the details that make this year’s collective of business profiles a volume worth your time.
It is my hope that you find this issue both educational and inspirational. But more importantly, I hope the issue provides you with a greater knowledge of the individuals behind the companies that help to define and develop the business landscape of Central Connecticut.
