A group of Hartford area businessmen led by local Realtor Jim Carter have acquired the historic Old Avon Village office-retail complex situated in the heart of Avon from its family owners, realty authorities say.
Avon Village Associates declines to say what it paid previous owners, the August family, for the property, said broker RM Bradley, who represented buyer and seller at the closing table.
However, the Avon town clerk’s office said Thursday its records show the deal closed April 17, with two deeds being recorded after a combined $4.5 million changed hands.
Old Avon Village is a 60,000-square-foot multi-building retail and office complex, at the corner of Route 44 and Route 10 in Avon.
In a statement Thursday, Carter, of Carter Realty, said he and fellow investors are “very excited about this opportunity to own such an iconic property in Avon and look forward to sustaining and expanding its tenant base over the next year.”
RM Bradley will also be assisting Avon Village Associates in the management of the property.
