Hartford area house prices fell in March

The March median price of houses sold in Greater Hartford fell 5.1 percent, Realtors say.

The drop likely was the result of ballooning inventory of unsold houses despite a slight gain in house sales, according to the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors.

The median price fell to $217,250 from $217,250 in March a year ago, the group said.

Area condo price also dropped, falling 3 percent last month to $158,500 from $163,500 a year earlier.

Condo sales and inventory also were down.
