Greater Hartford’s house and condo sales and prices all climbed in May from a year ago, but the outlook for summer sales is cool, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors says.
House sales rose 9.9 percent last month to 789 units from 717 a year earlier, the association said. The median price rose 0.9 percent to $230,000.
Condo closings rose 17 percent to 223 units sold from 190 a year earlier. Yet the median sales price dropped 2.8 percent to $159,900, the group said.
But pending sales for houses and condos are both down, a sign the recently expired federal homebuyer tax credits may have taken some of the wind out of what is normally a strong summer sales season, said GHAR CEO Jeff Arakelian.
