Hartford area home sales, paced by condominium demand, jumped again in July, but median prices trended lower, area Realtors say.
Closings on single-family dwellings climbed 16.6 percent last month to 1,266 units vs. 1,086 units sold in July 2014, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors said Thursday.
Median price for houses sold last month fell 6.4 percent to $220,000 vs. $235,000 a year earlier, the association said.
Condos tallied a 20 percent jump in sales in July to 319 units vs. 266 a year ago. Median price fell to $210,000 last month vs. $218,000 a year earlier.
While the average number of days between time when a house going on the market and its sale closing has lengthened by eight days, to 84 days, through the first seven months of this year, condos’ time on the market as of July was about three weeks shorter, at 57 days, area Realtors said.
The sales pipeline for both home varieties and available and incoming inventory remains solid, Realtors said.
