Some 1,600 Hartford area office cleaners will get raises and preserve health benefits under a new contract they unanimously ratified over the weekend.
The new pact averts a strike that could have affected 125 corporate, government and university buildings in the city and its suburbs
The pact keeps healthcare coverage in place and raises wages over the four years by 10 percent.
New Haven cleaners are scheduled to hold their ratification vote on Jan. 21.
