Used-home sales in the greater Hartford region continued their upward march in August, but prices continue to lag, Realtors say.
Single-family house sales climbed 13 percent last month to 1,146 units vs. 1,015 units sold in August 2014, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors reported Friday.
Median price for those sold units eased 2.2 percent to $220,000 last month from $225,000 in August of last year, the association said.
Meantime, the region’s inventory of houses for sale tightened last month, but the average time a property went on the market until its sale remains about two months.
Condominium sales rose 23 percent in August to 258 units vs. 210 units sold the same month last year, Realtors said.
However, condos’ median sales price last month rose 5.7 percent to $154,500 vs. $146,125 a year ago.
“The condominium statistics show a positive market turnaround with the increase in sales price over August of last year,’’ GHAR CEO Jeff Arakelian said in a statement. “Single-family homes, while having strong sales, are still slow to recover in sales price.’’
