Hartford was one of three U.S. cities posting gains in managerial hiring in March, CareerCast.com/JobSerf reports.
The March 2011 CareerCast.com/JobSerf employment index rose to its highest level since January 2008, reaching 109.5 points. That is a 5.2-point gain from February and a 65.4-point improvement from March 2009.
The index, which measures managerial hiring activity online, has shown gradual growth since December 2010.Â
Louisville, with a 15 percent gain, was the leader in job growth in March, followed by Hartford’s 9 percent rise, and an 8 percent increase in Memphis. San Francisco, Detroit, and Nashville each showed modest gains of 6 percent this month, the survey found.
 Hiring activity stalled in some cities with losses of 8 percent in Los Angeles, 6 percent in Miami, and a 5 percent drop in Minneapolis, Atlanta, San Diego and Riverside, Calif.
