Attorney Alfred R. Casella has been appointed managing partner of Harris Beach Murtha’s Hartford office, the law firm’s largest presence in Connecticut.
Casella succeeds Richard A. Marone, who led the Hartford office for three years and oversaw its transition through the 2025 merger of Murtha Cullina LLP and Harris Beach PLLC. Marone will remain with the firm as a member of its trusts and estates, corporate and tax, and nonprofit practice groups.
A 17-year member of the firm, Casella is part of the trusts and estates practice group, where he advises individuals, families and business owners on estate planning, probate litigation and business succession. He is also an American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fellow and has served in fiduciary roles, including executor, trustee and conservator.
Casella, a Suffield native, earned degrees from Trinity College and the University of Connecticut School of Law. His professional and civic involvement has included service on the Connecticut Governor’s Tax Panel, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra board, and Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford.
Prior to the deal, Murtha Cullina reported it had 55 Connecticut attorneys and 30 Connecticut partners as of the third quarter of 2024, according to Hartford Business Journal’s Book of Lists.
