Hammonasset Beach State Park on Thursday opened its newest appeal, the Shoreline Greenway Trail to stretch from Madison to New Haven.
Since 2003, the nonprofit Shoreline Greenway Trail, Inc. and its 2,500 members have raised money, designed, and built this attraction. The members as well as the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.
The Shoreline Greenway Trail is a walkway expanding 25 miles over a marsh through Hammonasset and the adjacent shoreline towns for activities such as biking, walking, and running. The trail will familiarize residents with the importance of nature preservation and outdoor activity.
