Hamden firm picked to design new magnet school

Silver/Petrucelli + Associates, an architectural, engineering and interior design firm based in Hamden, will be designing the new ACES Wintergreen Inter-District Magnet school in North Haven.

The 161,000-square-foot building at 88 Bassett Road had previously been home to the North Haven Middle School and Greater New Haven State Technical College.

ACES, which provides services to some 30 school districts in the state, moved into the building in the summer of 2019. The organization, which primarily serves students with special needs, plans to turn the building into a school for children in kindergarten through grade 8. The school’s focus will be on the performing and visual arts.

The firm has worked on other projects for ACES in recent years, including designs for its Leeder Hill campus in Hamden and Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven.

“We look forward to bringing our shared commitment to their educational mission and vision on this next project,” Stein said in an announcement.
