A new Hallmark Channel holiday movie “Mystic Christmas” was filmed at several Connecticut locations earlier this year, including Mystic attractions and BioCT Innovation Commons.
BioCT represents the state’s bioscience industry and manages incubators in Groton and New Haven.
Kim Kelly, vice president for BioCT Incubators, said the movie was filmed partly at BioCT Innovation Commons in Groton. Its cafe and coworking spaces were featured in about six scenes, she said.
The movie’s production crews also used the site as its home base while they shot scenes around the Mystic area.
“This is the third Christmas movie filmed at our location and we are happy to host more in the future,” Kelly said.
The movie features main characters played by actors Jessy Schram and Chandler Massey.
The plot centers on a marine biologist named Juniper Jones (Schram), who spends much of her time traveling, according to Hallmark’s website. Around the holidays, she does a favor for her friend, Candice Adams, to work at Mystic Aquarium and oversee the upcoming release of an injured harbor seal. While there, she reconnects with former flame and Candice’s brother, Sawyer Adams (Massey), a local business owner.
Schram has appeared in several Hallmark Channel movies and shows such as “Chicago Med,” “Falling Skies,” “Nashville” and “Last Resort.” Massey is known for his role as Will Horton on “Days of Our Lives.”
Mystic Christmas is slated to air next on Nov. 11 and Nov. 17.
