With its first wedding scheduled for the end of 2024, Riverbend, a new venue in Haddam, is now open for tours and future bookings.
Riverbend, the fourth location from wedding planning and venue management company Connecticut Wedding Group, will officially open with its first wedding on New Year’s Eve, the company said. Meantime, personalized tours of the property in Haddam’s Higganum village and future bookings can now be scheduled.
Connecticut Wedding Group also owns and operates The Barns at Wesleyan Hills and The Pavilion on Crystal Lake, in Middletown and Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield.
The venue has 18,500 square feet of indoor space in its two twin buildings with exposed-beam ceilings, weathered brickwork and large windows. The venue also has outdoor areas for cocktail receptions and photos.
Award-winning Executive Chef Stephen Lisitano and Executive Sous Chef Michael Donovan will handle food at the venue, Connecticut Wedding Group said.
The Riverbend venue is part of the mixed-use revitalization project at the D&H Scovil Hoe Company Mill No. 4 in Higganum. According to the town’s historical society, the buildings date back to the mid-1800s when the D&H Scovil Hoe Co. was one of the town’s largest manufacturers, producing proprietary “planters hoe” tools used in farming and agriculture.
