The National Shooting Sports Foundation, which represents the firearms industry, has pulled its support for federal legislation to establish Coltsville National Historical Park in Hartford, according to the Associated Press.
Coltsville, which is named after revolver inventor Samuel Colt, received National Historic Landmark status in 2008.
The Newtown-based NSSF, which is suing Connecticut over its push for new gun regulations, said in a letter that its members are ”offended by the hypocrisy of our elected officials in Congress and the state government” to advocate for legislation paying homage to the firearms industry and the iconic Colt firearms factory while pursuing gun control legislation, the AP reported.
The NSSF filed suit earlier this month against Connecticut for what it says is a misuse of the state’s “emergency certification” exception for bringing legislation to the floor. The exception was used to pass Senate Bill 1160, which tightens gun regulations.
