Guilford and Waterbury are aiming to lighten the load of energy bills for its residents.
As a part of the Energize Connecticut initiative, Guilford is supporting Home Energy Solutions inspections for its residents. The program consists of energy specialist home evaluations and the installation of green products such as energy-efficient light bulbs and hot water pipe insulation.
The services will be free for homes that meet certain income eligibilities and cost around $99 for homes heated with fuel oil and propane. Additionally, for every HES service completed in the next 60 days, $75 will be donated to Guilford Social Services.
In Waterbury, the city launched an energy efficiency campaign called Energize Waterbury, where sustainability experts will work with government officials and residents to increase energy efficiency.
The Waterbury program also includes HES services, similar to that in Guilford.
