An independent insurance and risk management agency in Guilford, Maloney & Co. LLC, has merged with Smith Brothers Insurance, which is headquartered at 68 National Drive in Glastonbury.
Smith Brothers is a regional insurance agency with offices across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
Maloney & Co. was led by Michael J. Maloney, who will join Smith Brothers Design Professional Practice, along with his team. They will continue to work out of their Guilford office at 1110 Boston Post Road.
The merger will make Smith Brothers Design Professional Practice one of the largest advisors and brokers for architects and engineers in the Northeast, according to an announcement.
“With Mike and team joining our Design Professional team, we are truly enhancing services,
products, carrier access and reach,” said Joe B. Smith, president and CEO of Smith Brothers. “We will both be adding resources to each other’s practices and the integration will lead to our combined architects and engineers client base getting the best to offer in the marketplace.”
Maloney said combining the two companies’ resources will “allow us to leverage the resources of Smith Brothers and expand the range of products and services we can offer our clients.”
Smith Brothers, which is independently operated, was founded in Hartford in 1971 by brothers Bob and Brian Smith. It now has more than 250 employees.
