Former Aetna executive Shawn Guertin, who played a key role in the Hartford insurer’s merger with CVS Health three years ago, has been named CVS’s next chief financial officer.
The Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based healthcare and retail pharmacy conglomerate said Guertin will start in his new role May 28, replacing Eva Boratto, who served as CFO since 2018.
Guertin spent eight years with Aetna, where he held the titles of CFO, executive vice president and chief enterprise risk officer. He was serving as chief financial officer during CVS Health’s $69 billion acquisition of Aetna, which was set into motion in December 2017 and closed nearly a year later, in November 2018.
Guertin left the company in May 2019.
