Fairfield-based Colony Grill plans to open restaurants in Newington and South Windsor in 2027, adding to the pizza chain’s growing Hartford County presence.
The Newington restaurant is planned for 3260 Berlin Turnpike, the former home of Plaza Azteca Mexican restaurant, which closed in June. Major renovation work is already underway at the property.
The restaurant will accommodate more than 175 customers and include a patio, full bar and the chain’s first fully private dining room, according to Colony Grill.
The South Windsor location is planned for 255 Gateway Blvd. in Buckland Gateway, a new mixed-use development. It will have approximately 150 seats, a patio and full bar, Colony Grill said.
Specific opening dates were not announced.
The expansion comes as Colony Grill prepares to open a restaurant in Glastonbury. Founded in Stamford in 1935, the company specializes in thin-crust, bar-style pizza and operates locations in Connecticut, New York, Virginia and Florida.
