Groton’s Chamberlain named Realtor of the Year

Debra Chamberlain of Groton has been named the Realtor of the Year by the Connecticut Association of Realtors.

Chamberlain, the association’s communications division vice president and 2013 president-elect, is with the William Raveis agency in Mystic. She has served as local board president, and previously was president elect, secretary, chair of the government affairs committee for three years, and member of the international, member services, strategic planning and government affairs committees. She also was Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors’ 2011 Realtor of the Year. She earned master sales award and consistent awards from Raveis for production, listing and sales activity. At the civic level she participates in Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts, Friends of Harkness, as well as the Thames Ski Club and USTA Tennis.

The association also presented its Good Neighbor Awards to Marilyn Rosa, founder and Broker of Rosa Realty in New Haven; Ed Pellegrino, a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Madison; and the late T.J. Zappulla, who had been a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty 2000 in Torrington.

Nesson honored

Joel Nesson, senior advisor with Press/Cuozzo Commercial Services in Hamden, was honored by the Greater New Haven Association of Realtors with its Industrial Sale of the Year award.

Nesson was the sole broker for Phoenix Research Park, a five-building complex totaling 104,000 square feet set on 14 acres at 408-410 Sackett Point Road, North Haven. The transaction closed in October at $3.8 million.

Tech Council honors

The Connecticut Technology Council presented its annual Innovation Excellence Award to Rogers Corp. at the council’s annual meeting and holiday party at the University of Bridgeport. The publicly traded company makes specialty materials and components.

The Tech Council presented its Innovation Policy Leadership Award to Christopher “Kip” Bergstrom, the executive director of the state’s Commission on Culture and Tourism.

Also honored was Christopher Kalish as the Volunteer of the Year. Kalish has served as the chair of the CTC board of directors since 2009 and will pass this leadership role to Chuck Pagano of ESPN in the new year.

Doar to lead association

Burke Doar, vice president of sales and marketing at Trumpf Inc. in Farmington, was elected chairman of the board for the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association at the group’s recent annual meeting.

Doar, who will serve a one-year term as chairman, was first elected to the FMA board in 2005.

The Trumpf Group manufactures in sheet metal fabrication machinery and industrial lasers.
