National grocery supplier C&S Wholesale Services Inc. has informed state officials that it will lay off 175 employees at its Suffield facility.
The New Hampshire-based company in a notice to the state Department of Labor said it plans to make the job cuts at its Harvey Lane warehouse in January.
The layoffs will be permanent, the company said, and will affect a wide range of employees from administrative assistants, auditors and custodians to warehouse workers, forklift operators and selectors.
It’s not clear how many C&S Wholesale employees work at the facility.
C&S said the job cuts were a result of “certain decisions of its customer,” but didn’t elaborate further.
A company spokeswoman said all employees will be offered opportunities in other C&S locations.
