CORRECTION: A previous version misidentified the buyer.
Major Connecticut landlord Griffin Land & Nurseries Inc. says the tenant for its Florida landscape nursery intends to invoke its option to pay $4.1 million for the property.
New York-based Griffin Land in January 2014 sold off inventory and assets of its Imperial Nurseries unit, including a Granby nursery, for $5.1 million to Monrovia Nursery Co.
Griffin’s finance chief said Friday a third party that is not Monrovia is the Florida grow-farm’s tenant, but he declined to identify it.
The tenant must pay $4.075 million, with an unspecified deposit due May 31 and a closing no later than Aug. 31.
If the land-sale goes through, Griffin said it expects to post an approximately $2.5 million pretax gain on the transaction.
