Griffin Land & Nurseries Inc., Connecticut’s largest private landowner, has completed its approximately $1.8 million purchase of 51 undeveloped acres in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley.
The New York-based company, with real estate operations in Bloomfield, said the acreage in Lower Nazareth, Pa., is part of a deal negotiated last November in which Griffin acquired a 120,000-square-foot industrial building in Breinigsville, Pa.
The properties were auctioned off as part of a bankruptcy proceeding involving a unit of Opus East LLC, the company said.
The undeveloped land is expected to support the development of two industrial buildings totaling about 530,000 square feet, the company said.
The Pennsylvania transactions are Griffin’s first real estate acquisitions outside greater Hartford.
Griffin also owns Imperial Nurseries Inc. and Danbury-based Shemin Nurseries Inc.
