Greenwich BMW parent touts teen safety

A New Jersey auto dealership chain that owns BMW of Greenwich has formed a nonprofit foundation to promote teen-driver safety in Connecticut and three other states in which it operates.

DCH Auto Group, of South Amboy, N.J., says its DCH Teen Safe Driving Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that will focus on curbing deaths and injuries from crashes involving teen drivers.

It will do this by promoting safe-driving contests among eligible high school motorists, who will earn a chance to win either a new car or a college scholarship, authorities said.

DCH has 27 other domestic and foreign new-car dealerships in New Jersey, New York and California.

According to foundation president Susan Scarola, the organization’s first safe-driving contest will focus on its New Jersey home market. The first will be called “D3NJ – Don’t Drive Distracted NJ.”

DCH spokesman Roy Bavaro said the foundation will look to expand the safety contests to the other states starting in the third quarter.
