Backed by an urgent techno beat, a model demonstrated the uses of Woodbridge-based P2 Science’s newest product line in a promotional video, applying brightly hued concealer, lipstick and eyeliner and showing off a range of looks.
P2 announced its latest “green chemistry” breakthrough this week, a line of pigment dispersions or colorants to be marketed under the name CitroSperse. Developed in collaboration with American Colors, Inc. of Ohio, the 10 colorants are part of P2’s Citropol platform, derived from upcycled forestry by-products.
P2 CEO Neil Burns said, “There has been a huge need in the market for pigment dispersions that are both super-high performing and built on sustainable dispersion technology. CitroSperse dispersions have very high pigment loading, remarkable color intensity and of course are built on Citropol technology that is biodegradable, biorenewable and biocompatible.”
The new colorants can be used in cosmetic and personal care products and have a “similar sensory profile to silicones,” P2 said in the promotional video.
P2 said its products have a higher color strength than similar ingredients and work better than other naturally-derived dispersions.
The line includes various shades of black, yellow and red, along with Titanium White and Ultramarine Blue.
The CitroSperse line brings the total number of products launched by P2 Science to 25 since April of 2020, according to a company statement. Among other ingredients, the Citropol platform has resulted in a hair care oil and a cosmetic butter.
Last month, P2 won the top prize in an international industry innovation contest for its Citropol-based products.
