Greater Hartford employees collectively continue to earn an average wage well above most of the country, but the region lost some ground between 2012 and 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford metropolitan area, comprised on Hartford and Tolland counties, had an average hourly wage of $26.41 in May 2013, which was 18 percent higher than the national average.
However, the region’s average wage of $26.10 in May 2012 was 19 percent higher than the rest of the country at the time.
Manager continued to be the highest-paying position in May 2013, with a mean hourly wage of $56.71. Lawyers were paid the second most, at $51.68 an hour.
