Greater Hartford organizations that organize concert series, exhibits, theater performances, arts training and other programs will receive $176,000 in grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the state’s Congressional delegation announced.
Statewide, organizations and state agencies will receive more than $1 million.
Some of the largest area grants include:
- $66,000 for the Institute for Community Research in Hartford for an arts apprenticeship program and a folk art education and exhibit program.
- $40,000 for the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford to create a digital library of paintings by Connecticut artists.
- $25,000 for the Capitol Region Education Council in Hartford for a summer arts residency program at Wesleyan University for high school students.
- $10,000 for Theater Works in Hartford to support a production of “Third” — the last play written by Wendy Wasserstein — which will feature student and professional actors.
- $10,000 for the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington for the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.
