The Greater Hartford Arts Council has appointed Amanda Roy as its permanent CEO, effective immediately, following the abrupt departure of her predecessor last year.
Roy had been leading the organization in an interim CEO capacity since September 2024.
According to an announcement, Roy led the organization through a “period of significant change and strategic realignment.”
Roy has more than 10 years of experience with the arts council, during which time she has proven herself as a leader, community builder and advocate for the arts, according to the organization.
“As interim CEO, she spearheaded deeper community partnerships and revitalized the
organization’s strategic focus, focusing on projects such as the Art Star Mural and Hartford
Theater Week,” the organization said.
“Amanda is a pace-setting leader who has consistently shown her unwavering commitment to the Hartford arts community,” the group’s board of directors said in a statement. “She has an exceptional ability to connect with people and build systems rooted in trust and purpose. We are confident that under her leadership, the GHAC will continue to thrive and cultivate an arts ecosystem that truly reflects the vibrant creativity of the Capitol region.”
Roy also serves on the board of directors for the iQuilt Partnership and the board of governors for the Hartford Business Improvement District. She is also a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Community Advisory Committee and the Windsor Art Center’s Curatorial Advisory Committee.
She has worked on public art and cultural policy commissions in Hartford and Bloomfield and has served as a juror for numerous art exhibitions across Greater Hartford.
Roy is also a practicing visual artist, creating mixed-media works that connect music with natural, handmade inks.
