To The Editor:
The Democrat-proposed tax increases for business is the wrong message, as this will hinder business growth and employment (“Tax Bills Aimed At Business,” Feb. 16, 2009).
Many businesses are already “voting with their feet” and leaving Connecticut, which is one of the highest cost locations in the United States to do business. We [The Sibley Co.] are a manufacturing company and now have to evaluate whether we should move south to a more business-friendly, lower-cost state.
It is time for Connecticut government to “suck in its gut” like the rest of us have to in this slow economy, with real cuts in total expense dollars.
As I see it, the Connecticut state employees unions have the Democrats in their back pocket. Also, none of the bureaucracies want to be reduced in size or influence.
Taxes for business, property and personal, are already very excessive here in Connecticut!
