In a ranking of the best “eCities,” search engine giant Google has picked the town of Glastonbury as having Connecticut’s strongest online business presence.
“The businesses in these communities are embracing the web to find new customers, connect with existing clients and fuel their local economies,” Google said in announcement. “Glastonbury joins the ranks of America’s leading cities in the digital economy.”
Google worked with research firm Ipsos to research which cities had the highest penetration of Google AdWords relative to population size. Then Ipsos analyzed a random sampling of businesses in the top five cities for each of the 50 states, scoring them for being listed in online directories, having websites, blogs and a social network presence.
