Mission: The mission of Good News Garage is to create economic opportunity by providing affordable and reliable transportation options to people in need.
Background: Good News Garage, a program of Lutheran Social Services, accepts, repairs and awards donated vehicles to people working to become financially self-sufficient. Good News Garage originated in 1996 in Burlington, Vt., and has since expanded to Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Since its founding, Good News Garage has awarded more than 3,200 vehicles throughout New England. Unlike most car donation programs, Good News Garage directly helps people by putting them into the vehicles that are donated to us.
Volunteer: Good News Garage welcomes volunteers. We invite local youth groups to visit us for their next service project. We will be happy to work with your group to customize and plan a project that is fun, educational, age appropriate and works within your schedule. Contact Lisa Farren, marketing & development manager at (860) 218-2970, ext 2 or via email at lfarren@GoodNewsGarage.org to learn more.
