Global diplomats to gather in downtown Hartford

Diplomats from more than 20 countries are gathering in downtown Hartford later this month for a global networking event.

The World Affairs Council of Connecticut is using Hartford’s Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, 600 Main St., on Tuesday, March 19, to host the second annual Diplomat Reception. The nonprofit aims to connect attendees to new business and global contacts, according to organizers.

The ticketed event, open to the public, kicks off with red carpet arrivals at 6 p.m. with the program running until 8 p.m.

Officials from over 20 nations are expected to attend the Hartford event. An assortment of officials from Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Qatar, China, Mexico, Brazil and Japan are among those attending.

“This is a testament to how important global business and global ties are to our state,” said council CEO Megan Torrey. “This is a big deal.”
